Breast Cancer Soy: Research Supports Safety of Soy and Red Clover in Breast Cancer
and Endometrial Cancer
By Keith D. Bishop, Clinical Nutritionist, B.Sc. Pharmacy - October 25, 2009
Plant estrogens from soy and red clover do not increase the risk of breast cancer and endometrial
Research analysis of 92 randomized controlled trials, with 9,629
participants, indicate that compounds genistein, naringenin, kaempferol, and lignans such as enterodiol
and enterolactone, from soy and red clover were not linked to increased incidence of breast cancer and endometrial
cancer. Results of the study were
published in The American Journal of Medicine in
October of 2009.
“Our findings have implications for women seeking safe […]
alternatives to hormone replacement therapy,” wrote the researchers, led by Clemens Tempfer from the Medical
“Based on our findings, they can be assured that there is no
indication of serious unwanted side effects of phytoestrogen treatment such as those found in women on hormone
replacement therapy, for example, thrombosis, myocardial infarction, stroke, and breast cancer,” they
“It has to be acknowledged, however, that our study does not make any statement about the efficacy of phytoestrogen
treatment, which has been discussed controversially.”

Natural Cancer Treatment Pearl
The plant estrogens in soy appear to attach to the estrogen receptors on cells in the body. The plant estrogens
are much weaker than the stronger estrogens in the body, pesticides and plastics. Once attached to the receptors
the soy may keep the stronger estrogens and toxins from attaching and stimulating the growth of breast,
endometrial and ovarian cells.
